Angelia Ong wins the title Miss Earth 2015

The crowned Miss Earth 2015 is no other than Angelia Gabrena  Ong, Philippines. At the age of 25; she beat the 85 contestants around the world for the crown last December 5, 2015 ( December 6, 2015 in Manila) at Marx Halle in Vienna, Austria. Ong is a marketing management graduate at the  De La Salle – College of St. Benilde.

She succeeded  Ms. Jamie Herrell who was crowned as Miss Earth 2014, a Filipino-American actress, TV Host, dancer and beauty queen. Two Filipinas won the title in a row after 15 years. It is such a milestone.

She is not just more of a Ilongga  beauty alone but a beauty and brains. She suggested confidently a slogan for the next 15 years of Miss Earth. “We will because we can.” She further explained

“I want to let everybody know that all things are possible and all things are feasible if we work together. We will, because we can.”

“I know I have the right mind… and I would be the right channel to inspire and educate people on how they can help preserve and protect the environment in their own simple way” she also said

In a radio interview, Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma commended Ong on  her victory.

“Ipinaparating po natin kay Binibining Angelia Ong ang pagbati ng buong bansa dahil sa kanyang tagumpay sa pageant ng Miss Earth. Ito po ay pagpapatunay muli sa kagandahan, katalinuhan, at kahusayan ng kababaihang Pilipina at ng mga Pilipino sa mga pandaigdigang kompetisyon na idinaraos din naman para palawigin ang pakikipagkaibigan at kooperasyon ng iba’t ibang bansa,” Coloma was quoted saying during the interview, “Congratulations po at best wishes para sa kanya.”

The runners-up were the following:

Dayanna Grageda of Australia, who was named Miss Earth Air (first runner-up);

Brittany Payne as Miss Earth Water (second runner-up) and Thiessa Sickert as Miss Earth Fire (third runner-up).
