Choosing your First Car
Choosing your first car can be a little pain. There are lots of choices on the market today and different types. What exactly to look for a new car? What are factors to consider before buying your first car? Here are the things you need to know before buying your first car:
- Budget
The biggest factor to be considered before buying your first car is your budget. The price of the car is no joke. It’s cost almost on par with what house and lot can cost. You also have to consider that cost of gas, toll fee, maintenance and a yearly insurance fee of almost same or higher than your monthly amortization. Research on the cost of maintenance, it usually varies per model and brand. You should also consider some extra cost along the way like car wash, parking fee or even buying some accessories. Also consider how much you can throw for gas, from there you can at least estimate the acceptable kilometer per liter rating of the car you will be buying. The price of cars will increase next year because of the upcoming excise tax. This will also increase the price of gas which will hurt your wallet when it takes effect. -
Type of Car
After you have determined the maximum monthly amortization you can give for your car, now choose a type of the car you can afford with your budget. It is not practical to extend your budget just to buy the car that you want. There is a big risk that you might not be able to pay the amortization forcing the bank to reposes your car, when this happens you will be block listed on any bank and you won’t be able to apple for another loan again. -
Features
List all the feature you need. Make a comparison the feature versus price to check the best value for money deal.Don’t be overwhelmed with low price offer, they sometimes omit some features to bring down the cost(i.e. some low priced cars does not have air bags)
