Tips on buying a used mobile phone
Lets face it, most of us can’t afford those high end mobile phones like the iphone. They are great but it comes at a premium price. A price that will cost you a leg. It is also not practical to purchase a mobile phone that is equivalent to half of your monthly salary. Fortunately you can get it for cheaper price by going to used mobile phones market.
If you are wise enough, you can get a got phone with less. You just have to know how to properly check the used phone. Here are some guidelines for checking a used phone:
- Battery life – the weakest part of the mobile phone is the battery and if you are buying a used phone, this should be your number one item to check. Don’t rush things up, take you time when checking it. Checking the battery will take up to an hour. Make sure to display the percentage of the battery. Take note how much percentage of the battery is remaining, use the phone to browse the internet through wifi and/or data connection. Notice how much percentage left on the battery after 30mins of internet browsing. A discharge rate of more than 10% indicates a bad battery. Note that this is different on each phone because each phone have different battery capacity.
- Call Quality – try to call and check the quality. There should be no noise and you should hear the voice of the person you are calling and vice versa.
- Ports – Check the charging and headset port for any loose or intermittent connection. The charging should not be interrupted when you touch and wiggle the charging wire. Do same with the headset.
- Complete with box – there is a bigger chance that the unit came from a thief if they are selling it without box and accessories. Avoid buying those kind of unit, you are only giving them reason to steal again.
- Age – Avoid buying phone with more than 2 years old. Mobile phones are used everyday so its parts age quickly. If you want a pristine condition phone, buy a phone with less than a year old.
- Warranty – for less hassle and headaches, find a phone that is still covered with warranty. This would mean that the unit is still in pristine condition.
