India: no to Google streetview

India officials says that they have rejected Google’s plans to take photo of their country using Google’s Streetview service. They are citing concerns on national security especially on the sensitive security installations of the country.

Officials pointed out that the Mumbai attack happened on 2008 was believed to planned using photographic reconnaissance. That being said; Streetview may compromise the national security.

In 2010, almost 250,000 German requested Google Streetview to blur their home citing privacy and security concerns. Google streetview is a great tool for exploring places without physically going there. It is a very useful tool to make you familiar of the place you will be visiting on the future. But it can also be used by criminals on planning crimes and escape plans.
