Every year, Apple releases a new iPhone and this year we will be expecting a new iPhone 7 on the horizon. iPhone 6s was announced September of 2015 so we won’t see a new iPhone for the next few months. There are rumors that Apple is planning to announce the new iPhone 7 on March.

Apple iPhone Timeline:

2007 – iPhone
2008 – iPhone 3G
2009 – iPhone 3GS
2010 – iPhone 4 (new design)
2011 – iPhone 4s
2012 – iPhone 5 (new design)
2013 – iPhone 5s
2014 – iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus (new design)
2015 – iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus

Expect a big changes on the design and features, we expect to have better A10 processors although the technical specifications are still unknown. The biggest change we will expect on the iPhone is the removal of 3.5mm headphone jack. This is a bad news for us that prefers using 3rd party high end headphones or using it to connect to bigger sound systems. The main reason of this change is to make the iPhone thinner. Well that is not surprising because they also did it on their macbooks, they decided to remove the DVD drive to make it thinner. Just last year they also decided to remove the USB connectors  and replace it with a single USB type C on their new macbook to make it thinner. In order to use 3rd party 3.5mm jack headset, Apple will release a lightning connector to 3.5mm jack converter which will be sold separately and as you may guess, it won’t be cheap. This is Apple.

Wireless Charging

The removal of the 3.5mm headphone jack leads to the speculation that iPhone 7 may posses a wireless charging feature. This is because you can’t listen to music and charge at the same time using the lightning port. Unless Apple will bundle it with an adapter that will let you listen to music and charge at the same time. Apple is rumoured to be developing some kind wireless charging that can charge up to 1 meter wireless. If this is true then it is a breakthrough in technology considering that wireless charging today can only charge at few centimeters.

Camera

For the first time, iPhone 7 may feature a dual lens camera. But this may only be for the “plus” model. Apple is said to be actively developing 12Megapixel camera from a company LinX Imaging that they bought last year.

Storage

High end option may have 256Gb of storage although this is still a rumors for now.
