Sierra Madre Hotel and Resort Review
Sierra Madre Hotel and Resort
Most of us would probably wish to go somewhere in Tagaytay or Baguio this summer. To find a cooler place to relax and enjoy vacation. Unfortunately not everyone has the capacity to do so and the said places are so crowded.
I just want to share with you a place that is not very known to everyone that offers almost the same athmosphere as the two said places. Located at 56 Marcos Hi-way, Mayagay, Tanay, Rizal; Sierra Madre Hotel and Resort is the place to be.
Going to Sierra Madre Hotel and Resort
Going there is easy only if you have a background of the place. But nowadays almost any smartphone have built-in GPS so there’s nothing to worry. There are two possible routes to get there from Manila. First is to take the long trip suitable for jeepneys, vehicles that carry heavy materials and in the same time if you want to enjoy seeing some of the barrios in Rizal before Tanay such as Cainta, Taytay, Angono, Binangonan and Baras. Obviously, it will really take longer time compared using the route from Cogeo to Antipolo, Baras and then Tanay. My friends and I were in the jeepney and left 10 minutes advance than our Pastor who uses a Bighorn vehicle. Along the way we were looking for them and assuming that we are taking the lead because we can’t see them. Surprisingly, they are able to be there earlier than us because they use the shortcut route.
Going up in Sierra Madre Hotel and Resort won’t be easy but it will be worth it when you are already there.
What to prepare?
Prepare water for the engine of your vehicle it might overheat especially during summer just like what we experienced. Prepare also flashlights if ever you are planning to travel at night. Along the way up there you’ll see an Ilocos like windmills. There are minimal number of stores so better prepare your pockets for expensive goods or bring your own foods and drinks instead. The entrance fee costs 50 pesos only but the commodities are not as low as that.
Bring your jackets because the temperature is really cold. Comparing the temperature from Baguio it isn’t as cold as expected when we were there but why go any further when Sierra Madre is just near?
I like this resort because they have their own water station which eliminates hassle for the guests bringing heavy water for camping. Yes folks, you can also camp here. Just bring your own tent.
A relaxing view of nature
Enjoy the fresh wind and relaxing view nature. A good place to unwind and get away from the hustle and bustle of the City. Bird’s eye view as the idiom says and it fits Sierra Madre. The view from the top is like heaven.

This view is from the mountain top of Sierra Madre. You can see the isolated pools away from the cabins.

This is a nice place for team building. There are many activities that can be done on this place such as playing volleyball.
Enjoy the beauty of the nature without the disturbance of the social media. You will be able to enjoy the place and have a quality time. You won’t be able to use free Facebook or even send a message most of the time because there’s no enough signal. Although SMART has the strongest signal there it doesn’t mean that the internet connection would be good. My room-mate brought her smart broadband but it took her an hour to have a stable connection and have a video chat. You would ask me is it safe there for the kids? Yes it is! If you would be responsible because the kiddie pool is far away from the cabins and it would take 5-10 minutes going up. Watch your steps there are cliffs that might cause accident like what happened to my cousin. He rolled down and got wounded.

Sierra Madre Hotel and Resort Amenities
If you love adventure and don’t want to go far, this is the nearest place to be. You will enjoy crossing the two kinds of bridges there. The hanging bridge and rope bridge.
The hanging bridge
This one is called as the San Juaning Bridge. I think it came from San Juanico Bridge because of its distance from one end to another is quite longer compared the blue hanging bridge below.

The rope bridge
If you love challenging actions, this one is for you. Just be sure you have your friends underneath you to catch you if you fall. Take note that this rope bridge is about 20 meters. Here’s a piece of advice if you are planning to take this bridge.
Nakakakaba siya eh. Medyo mataas din kasi. Tsaka baka magkamali ng step magpapagewang gewang ka rin dun. Dapat straight ang pagtawid. -Drick

Here are some statements from those who experienced this rope bridge to give you ideas.
Natakot ako tsaka kinabahan.Para sakin wag mag tsinelas. Dapat yung suot mo sapatos or sandals or kahit mag paa lang. Mahirap kasi pag naka tsinelas, madulas. So dapat yung suot mo yung hindi ka madaling madulas.Tapos bilisan mo kilos, tuloy-tuloy lang. Chill lang ganon. – Melanie Lao
Kabado! Tapos andun yung thoughts na what if mahulog ako. Anong dapat gawin? Una strategize kung pano ka tatawid. Bawat knot sa apakan, ginagawa kong stopper para makabalanse ako. Sa kalagitnaan, gusto ko na magquit, kaso naumpisahan ko na e. Might as well tapusin na. – Carmela Lao
After their experience Melanie once said that she felt happy and her stress was relieved. On the other hand, Carmela explained that the experience was worth it and the thrill and excitement was totally different!

Swimming Pool
You can see the kiddie pool from a far which has 4 ft dept of water and another pool which is from 5 ft to 7 ft.
This pool near the cabins has 4 ft to 10 ft depth from left to right or clockwise rotation.

A good place for jogging exercise in the morning and for outdoor games. I would also suggest this place for school retreats or also known as recollections, the place can accommodate large crowd up to 800 people.
