Sony R302B LED TV review

It’s been 4 months since I bought this Sony R302B LED TV. I am happy that I chose this TV and had no regrets. It is a 32 inch LED TV. At first it was not part of my choice because of my limited budget but when I saw this on sale at lazada, i quickly bought it. Ok so lets review every aspect of this TV.

DISPLAY
the display colors are great, it produces crisp and accurate color. Color reproduction is accurate, skin tone is correct. I also like its design that the screen has small border that makes the screen look larger. The screen resolution is only 1366 x 768 also known as WXGA and not full HD. Although the resolution is not full HD, it fully supports full HD 1080p playback through USB and HDMI.

This is the very weakness of this TV. It doesn’t have VGA port, it only have 2 HDMI port, component and composite video share the same slot. This means that if you have a tv receiver that have composite video output and a blueray player with component output, instead of just switching on the tv menu, you have to physically remove the tv receiver in order  to connect your blueray player.

Sound quality
The sound pretty nice and clear, the only problem is that it lacks bass. It sounds very thin. Although you can adjust its sound through the built in equalizer. The sound is still thin even if adjust the bass to maximum. It has intelligent volume control which automatically adjust the volume to minimize the difference of loud bomb sound and normal voice in a movie. Its a great feature to have if you love to watch movie but hate the loud sound of a people fighting on a movie.

The remote control is easy to understand. It fits my hands well and very easy to use.

What I like most on Sony R302B TV is that it has no ventilation hole so you wont worry on any splash or sprinkle of water on the back. It also has lightning protection, something that most TV lacks.

Additional Features

  • FM Radio – its a nice feature but for me, it is somewhat useless and I never used it anyway. It is a waste of energy to use it for FM radio because the big screen is on.
  • Digital Picture Frame – This feature is very useful for store or office use, for displaying several announcements and bulletins, etc.
  • USB player – This is my favorite feature, you can play movies through USB device. One of the advantage of sony among other brand is that it supports more video formats than its competitor.
  • Clear Resolution enhancer – as the name implies, it enhancer the picture for better viewing.
  • Motionflow XR – Also an picture enhancer to make fast moving object less blurry.

Summary:
Pros

  • Clear and wide angle display
  • It supports more Video formats than competitors
  • Solid safety features
  • Clear resolution enhancer gives better picture quality
  • Built in FM radio
  • Only consumes 40 Watts

Cons

  • Limited connectivity options, it only has 2 HDMI ports, no VGA and shared composite and component video slot
  • Sound is too thin, no bass sound. For best experience, better use external speaker.
  • Display resolution is only 1366 x 768(WXGA) not FULL HD
  • Buttons are at the back, you will hate this TV if you lost the remote control. Aside from the button are at the back, there are only 4 buttons which makes it hard to navigate without using remote control.
  • It actually lacks features compared to same priced competitors. Other TV brands that are priced same as this Sony R302B LED TV have more features like full HD display, internet connectivity, and even built-in digital receiver.

Recommendations

This TV lacks features compared to its competitors, but the only thing that it boast is its name “SONY”. It has been very popular, not just because of its name but because of the quality products they bring. You can be sure that the product has high quality standards. They are also one of the brands that have good after sales service. Although the screen resolution is not Full HD, it produces very clear image. Would I recommend it? My answer is a big YES. But if you have higher budget, you might want to consider buying the higher model(only if you really need the features of the higher model, otherwise you are just wasting money)
